Thank you for considering supporting us, your support will help us prevent further victims of sexual abuse.
Our ultimate aim is that there should be a Circle available to every eligible individual who wants to participate in one. This is an ambitious aim but we are confident of the positive impacts that Circles can have on the individual core members and upon reducing the risk of sexual offending in our communities. To make this a possibility, we are looking for funding to enable us to continue and expand our services throughout Yorkshire, Humberside & Lincolnshire.
If you would like to support our work, please make a donation. Even small donations can make a real difference!

£20 can hire a safe, comfortable room for Circle volunteers to meet with a core member. £5 would cover a volunteer's travel expenses to get to the Circle meeting. £75 enables us to hire a training room for a day to train more Circle volunteers.
Why We Need Your Help
Our region has 5245 registered sex offenders living in the community. Yet we are only funded to work with 36 individuals a year – which means we are reaching less than 1% of people (that we know about) who might benefit from our support, and consequently risks to the community which could be reduced remain unmitigated.
Almost every day we have to say no to community groups, GPs and ex-offenders who approach us - and there isn't anyone offering anything similar that they can turn to. With your help we could better protect communities in our region by being able to say yes instead.
We are appealing to employers in our region to invest in safeguarding their local communities. This way we can expand to work with every eligible person who comes to us.
5 WAYS TO HELP
1. INCREASE AWARENESS
Is your organisation’s safeguarding culture transparent?
The best way to safeguard against sexual abuse is to have a realistic understanding of what it is and how it happens.
We offer flexible training programmes which will equip your employees with the skills and knowledge they need to protect themselves, their family, friends, neighbours and wider communities. Awareness makes a HUGE difference in preventing sexual abuse.
Training is essential for all to empower them to protect themselves and others. If your staff work / volunteer with children or young people, through your company’s corporate social responsibility programme training is a legislative requirement.
Many people believe that society should lock up sex offenders and throw away the key. But that isn’t the reality: the average sentence is 5 years and 3 months. Circles of Support and Accountability work with an offender when they are released into the community to minimise their risk of causing more victims.
Circles volunteers - our 'magic ingredient' - between them they give us over 4,000 hours of their time every year. Most Circles last for a year and we ask for a commitment of 2 hours a week. Full ongoing training is provided, alongside support and regular supervision.
We welcome all interest but in order to be representative of our communities we are particularly keen to hear from men, those aged 25+ and people with minority ethnic backgrounds.
Aside from the incalculable harm done to victims and those close to them, it costs society on average £36,952 to deal with one sexual offence, when judicial proceedings, medical treatment for the victim and their 'lost output' are taken into account (Home Office 2010).
In comparison it costs no more than £10,000 to run a Circle, preventing untold future victims: the reoffending rate of individuals who have been supported by Circles is 10 times lower than those who have not (2.5% compared to 26% nationally).
£75 pays for a day’s room hire to train up to twenty people to help safeguard their community.
£300 enables us to start the risk assessment process on an offender.
£1,000 means we can recruit, fully train and support a community volunteer for 18 months.
£10,000 means we can run a Circle with an offender, and minimise the chance of them causing future victims.
We can come in to talk with you about the difference a corporate donation will make in your local community. We can also speak with your employees about supporting through payroll giving: this provides us with a vital source of regular income, ensuring that every Circle can continue until the risk to the community has diminished.
4. GIVING EXPERTISE
Sharing expertise can be a useful part of your approach to staff development.

5. FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

Maybe you can’t commit to regular volunteering? Maybe you want to go the extra mile? Maybe you already participate in sporting events and would be willing to collect sponsorship? Or have a talent or skill which would allow us to organise a fundraising event?
Whatever your motivation, any fundraising you undertake could have a real impact on the safety of your local community, and open up opportunities to someone trying to rebuild themselves a positive, safe life.
So far we have had people undertake a sponsored run, swim and head shave! To discuss fundraising ideas, please Contact Us
